Green TV launched

Green TV started its journey as the 39th television channel of the country. The Speaker of the National Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury called the authority concern for broadcasting the correct history of the liberation war on the channel.

She made this call at the grand opening ceremony of Green TV at Bashundhara International Convention City in the capital on Friday evening. After the experimental broadcast, Green TV started broadcasting officially as a satellite television from 6 pm on Friday.

While speaking as the chief guest at the launch of Green Television, the new initiative of industrial entrepreneur group Rangdhanu Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury congratulated everyone associated with the television.

She said, "We hope that the television channel with this theme 'See the world in your eyes' will present something new through different programs such as serial dramas, TV shows, game shows, etc. I believe that this television channel will play a leading role in highlighting the true history of the Liberation War especially to the young generation.

"Green TV will broadcast news for public welfare, keep their reputation intact by broadcasting news against environmental pollution, noise pollution, river pollution and corruption," said Dr. Shirin Sharmin.

The speaker said, 'The world is now at hand in the current era of information technology. Let us not spread false news. This damages the credibility and image of a channel. I hope this channel will make a place in everyone's heart by broadcasting quality programs and accurate news.'

Women are playing a special role in the media and Green TV will work as a women-friendly channel, she said.

Earlier, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr. Hashan Mahmud announced the opening of the broadcast of Green Television. He said, 'In 1996, the journey of private television channels started with the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Our government believes in the independent development of the media because it is linked to the development of the state and society.'

"The government is doing everything necessary to ensure that the mass media can work properly," he said, "Bangladesh media works independently." So along with freedom comes the need to be responsible”.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal wished Green TV a bright future and congratulated everyone in the organization.

Rangdhanu Group Chairman Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Satellite Company Chairman Shahjahan Mahmud, Green Multimedia Limited Chairperson Nafisa Jumaina Mahmud, former IGP Benazir Ahmed, FBCCI Vice President Amin Helali and others greeted the occasion and took part in cutting the cake. Eminent artistes and artists performed a colourful cultural programs on the occasion.
